One Rank One Pension

Meaning

One Rank One Pension rule means that the retired soldiers of the same rank and length of service will receive the same amount of pension, regardless of when they retire.
For eg, a sepoy who retires in 1993 should be paid the same pension at the time of retirement, as the one who retires in another year.

Background

One Rank One Pension has been the demand from Ex-servicemen from 2006 after the sixth pay commission further increased the gap between the people who retired before and after 2006.

The Protest

Thousands of retired army men from Uttar Pradesh will participate in a protest demonstration to press for ‘one-rank, one-pension’ at New Delhi’s Jantar Mantar on June 14, an office-bearer of the Bhootporva Sainik Sangh said on Wednesday. –
