It is the list of things implemented in last 9 months, many of which were started in previous governments

  1. FDI in defence sector is increased to 49% from 26%. FDI upto 100% is allowed depending upon case to case.
  2. Licensing requirements are relaxed.
  3. Rs. 65000 crore value of equipment and platform to be acquired through “Make In India“.  i) 12 Dornier surveillance aircraft to be built by HAL.  ii) 6 Submarines to be built in India. iii) 384 light-utility helicopters to be built in India with foreign collaboration.
  4. India’s largest aircraft carrier INS Vikramaditya inducted.
  5. The biggest warship ever to be built in India, indigenous destroyer, INS Kolkata commissioned.
  6. INS Kamorta, anti-submarine warfare built at Kolkata is commissioned.
  7. INS Sumitra, offshore patrol vessel, built at Goa is also commissioned.
  8. Light weight portable radars, Bharani for army and Ashlesha for air force is successfully manufactured by BEL.
  9. BEL started a new venture “BEL-THALES System’ with Thales of France at Bangalore for production of new technology radars.
  10. LCA Tejas inducted into the Air force.
  11. Tejas trainer PV6 took its first flight.
  12. LCA(NAVY) prototype-1 took off majestically from a sky jump facility.
  13. The shore based test facility(SBTF) became operational at INS Hansa, for R&D, as well as for training of LCA and MiG 29K pilots.
  14. The new state of the art Very Low frequency(VLF) transmitting station is opened for Indian navy.
  15. C-130J and C-17 is inducted in the airforce.
  16. MI-17 V5 helicopter fleet has been inducted which will fill the gap in the medium heli-ligt capability.
  17. The IAF has successfully inducted the Rohini Radars.
  18. The Information Management and Analysis Centre (IMAC), a joint operations facility of the Indian Navy and Coast Guard set up by BEL with American software, IMAC will be the nodal centre of the National Command Control Communications and Intelligence Network (NC3I Network), with the aim of improving coastal surveillance and tightening coastal security so as to pre-empt/prevent sea-borne terrorist attacks like 26/11 on Mumbai.
  19. Fast Patrol Vessel IC G S Abhiraj, which will strengthen Coastal Surveillance initiatives, commissioned at Tuticorin.
  20. Two Advanced Early Warning and Control (AEW&C) aircraft, fitted with the indigenous radars and other equipment such as data links, mission system controller, data handling and display system have been flying.
  21. A wheeled version of Nishant UAV named “Panchi” has been realized and performed its maiden flight after a series of high speed taxi trials.
  22. AGNI-4- The first user trial of 4,000 km range road mobile ballistic missile Agni-4 was carried out by the Indian Army.
  23. Agni-1 & Agni-2 Agni-4 missiles were successfully test fired from Wheeler Island, off the Odisha coast.
  24. Akash Missiles-Successful trials of Akash missiles, the medium range air defence system with multi-target, multi-directional capability were conducted by the Air Force and the Army as part of user trials.
  25. ASTRA-BVR (Beyond Visual Range) Air-to-Air Missile was tested successfully from Su-30 MKI by the Indian Air Force, demonstrating interception of an electronically-simulated target at long range.
  26. LRSAM-A Long Range Surface-to-Air Missile was successfully tested against a flying target in Israel. Two static tests of Home-onTarget (HOT) semi-verification rocket motor were conducted successfully as pre-requisite to HOT trials.
  27. BRAHMOS-The Indian Navy successfully conducted the flight test of BrahMos from the indigenously-built INS Kolkata, the lead ship of the Project 15A class of Destroyers.
  28. HELINA-Successful trials of Helina, a “Lock-On Before Launch (Fire & Forget)” third generation Anti-tank Guided Missile.
  29. PINAKA MK-II -User demo trials of Pinaka Mk-II launcher was conducted successfully.
  30. DHANUSH– Indian Navy successfully test-fired indigenously developed ship-launched ballistic missile ‘Dhanush’ for the first time during the night from a warship INS Subhadra anchored about 45 km offshore Puri and Paradip.
  31. PRITHVI-II– Indigenously developed Prithvi-II surface-to-surface missile was successfully test-fired from a test range at Chandipur as part of user trials.
  32. VARUNASTRA– User Evaluation Trials of ‘Varunastra’ conducted.
  33. ABHAY– The second sea sortie for pre User Evaluation Technical Trials of Abhay sonar was successfully conducted.
  34. Advanced Parachute System– Meeting stringent requirements of Human Space Program (H SP-II), the system was designed, developed and successfully evaluated by D R D O. The system developed for India’s manned space missions was successfully proven with the recovery of Moon Mission Crew Capsule flown into space by the GSLV Mk-III. The parachute deployment system functioned perfectly and achieved the required descent rate.
  35. 4 roads have been approved for outsourcing to CPSUs to expedite progress of road construction in border areas.
  36. 760 roads have been included in the Border Roads Development Board programme to facilitate DGBR to approve maintenance grant for roads without any further approval.
  37. Rohtang Tunnel (8.8 km- one of the longest road tunnel in India) under construction .
  38. Feasibility study for construction of 6 priority tunnels is under consideration
  39. Road links restored in record time by Border Roads Organisation in J & K flood.  2,37,000 persons rescued. 75,000 patients treated.1,00,000 blankets distributed.
  40. Controlling MASSIVE FOREST fire – Prime forests near Vishakapatnam were engulfed by forest fires in November 2014. IAF deployed Four MI-17 V5 helicopters with Bambi Buckets to douse the fire. Each of these buckets can carry upto 3,500 liters of water. Nearly 1,00,000 liters of water was sprinkled to put out the fire.
  41. Over 2,400 tonnes of water was airlifted and shipped to Maldives following a breakdown of the desalination plant at capital Male’. India deployed INS Deepak, INS Sukanya and C-17 Globemaster aircraft for the purpose.
  42. First ever warship exported by India is an Offshore Patrol Vessel ‘C GS Barracuda’ built by GRSE, Kolkata, to Mauritius.
  43. India handed over one Fast Attack Craft INS Tarasa to Seychelles Coast Guard as a gesture of good bilateral relations between the Coast Guards of India and Seychelles.
  44. All the wings of the Indian Armed Forces – Army, Navy and Air Force, and the Coast Guard held joint exercises with militaries of several foreign countries including the United States, UK, Russia, Japan, Singapore and China. The themes included Counter Terrorism, Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief.
  45. OROP (One Rank, One Pension)-Meeting the long-standing demand of Service personnel and ex-servicemen, in principle approval for One Rank One Pension for retired defence personnel
  46. Full Pension– Stepping up of notional full pension of the commissioned officers absorbee pensioners.
  47. AADHAR CARD- Admitted as proof of date of birth/age for payment of additional pension/ family pension on completion of 80 years of age and above.
  48. Reservation Monitoring Cell has been approved by the MoD. DGR nominated as nodal agency for monitoring reservation for ESM .  New MoU for Coal Transportation Scheme for ESM. DGR Corporate conclave organized .
  49. The Indian Army launched the Army Veteran Grievance Handling Portal in Delhi. Indian Army formally opened a separate Directorate for veterans in August 2014
  50. Financial powers for approval of medical bills in ECHS have been enhanced. On-line bill processing of hospital bills has been implemented in ECHS resulting in reduced time taken to process bills. 250 new hospitals have been empanelled with ECHS, taking the total No of empanelled hospitals to 1,132.
  51. Documentation of War history– New initiatives are being taken in documentation of history of war which include writing of the history of the Indian Armed Forces, production of documentaries on World WarI, World War-II,1947-48 operations, Wars of 1962, 1965 and 1971 and the Kargil conflict of 1999.It is also proposed to produce a full length feature film showcasing the efforts and ethos of the Indian Armed Forces.
  52. National War Memorial- The Government has decided to build a National War Memorial to honour Defence Forces’ personnel who were martyred in wars after Independence in 1947. A War Museum will also be constructed. ` 200 crore has been allocated in the Defence Service Estimates for the year 2014-15 for this purpose.
  53. Clean India– Responding to the Prime Minister’s call to the people of India to realize Mahatma Gandhi’s dream of “Swachh Bharat” (Clean India) by 2nd October 2019, the Ministry of Defence has undertaken in right earnest an intensive national cleanliness campaign. An elaborate plan to implement “Clean India – Clean Cantonments” programme has been prepared by the Directorate of Defence Estates, Ministry of Defence.
  54. .18 MEDALS AT ASIAN GAME- Out of 57 medals India bagged in the recently held Asian Games at Incheon, South Korea, sportsmen from the Indian Armed Forces got 18 medals.
  55. 2 gold and 5 silver– In the Commonwealth Games held at Glasgow, Scotland in 2014, Services sportsmen bagged 08 medals, which include 02 gold, and 05 silver out of the country’s medal tally, which stood at 64.
  56. HISTORY RECORDS-Digitization of records in History Division, Ministry of Defence is in progress
  57. DEFENCE LAND- Digitization of files/records relating to Defence land
  58. Knowledge Management System-IT project on sharing of knowledge between training institutions of all three Services over National Knowledge Network (NKN)
  59. i-Aushdhi-Networking of all Medical Stores, Depots & DGAFMS office for online procurements.
  60. Hospital Information System-Integration of three Services Hospital Network.
  61. Hospital Smart Card-A smart card containing the medical history and prescription of each individual and dependants.
  62. e-SAMIKSHA-Online system, e-Samiksha launched by the Cabinet Secretariat is being extensively used for monitoring of follow-up action on various issues.
